In June 2015, Majors Glen and Carole Caddy were appointed to the leadership of the Western Michigan Northern Indiana Division. As Divisional Commander, Major Glen provides administrative and spiritual leadership to the work of The Salvation Army in 26 corps community centers throughout the division. Major Carole serves as the Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries and Officer Development Secretary.
The Caddys have served 39 years as Salvation Army officers. In addition to completing the course of study at the College for Officer Training, both Majors have earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Practical Ministry from Olivet Nazarene University. Major Glen earned a Master of Arts Degree in Ministry Leadership from Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University. He also had the unique privilege of attending the International College for Officers in London, England in 2002.
Major Glen Caddy is a first generation Salvationist. He became involved with The Salvation Army volunteering while a college freshman. Major Carole Caddy is also a first generation Salvationist who met the Army through its music and youth programs. The Caddys met while working on camp staff at a Salvation Army Camp.
The Caddys’ ministry has included leadership of Corps Community Centers in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan, including one of the largest corps in the Central Territory. They served as Divisional Youth Leaders in St. Louis, MO and Divisional Secretary and Women’s Ministry Secretary in Grand Rapids, MI. Administrative appointments have included working in program development and officer recruitment activities at Territorial Headquarters. The Caddys served on the staff of the College for Officer Training with Major Glen as Director of Business and Major Carole as Director of Field Training. They also carried major teaching responsibilities.
Most recently, Major Glen served as the City Commander in Wichita where he oversaw the many Salvation Army programs serving Sedgwick County, KS. Major Carole served as the Program Development Officer and Chaplain. These programs included a Family Transitional Shelter, a Youth Residential Shelter, Foster Care program, Emergency Social Services, Disaster Services, Pathway of Hope, 2 Corps Community Centers and Hiawatha Camp and Retreat Center. In these roles they worked with the community at large as well as the Advisory Board to grow and improve the services and facilities to better serve the community.
Glen and Carole have two adult children. Their daughter Jenny and son-in-law Aaron are officers currently appointed to the College for Officer Training. Their son Joe is the Fine Arts Ministry Director at the College for Officer Training in Chicago and also leads the Territorial Drama team, Bill Booth Theater Company. Their daughter-in-law, Kristin, serves as the assistant director of the World Missions Bureau at Territorial Headquarters. The Caddys have four grand-daughters ages ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years old.
Glen and Carole enjoy walking, camping, travel, cruises, and spending time with family.
