Reading and Giving
On April 28, 2012, The Salvation Army Action Group partnered with the Read n\’ Give program to giveaway nearly 1,000 books as a part of their Army of Readers event. The books were distributed between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, and between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Fulton Heights Corps Community Center.
The event involved 20 volunteers who helped to unload and sort donated books, and assisted children and families in picking out the right books for their interests and reading levels. Overall, 971 books were given away to 148 individuals to promote literacy in our community. We look forward to a bright future where children become adults passionate about reading!
