Donut Day Volunteers
The Salvation Army Action Group is sponsoring a community appreciation ‘Donut Day’ event Friday, June 7th and we can use your help. The origins of National Doughnut Day go back to 1917 when Salvation Army ‘Lassie’ Helen Purviance used limited food supplies to fry doughnuts for U.S. World War I soldiers fighting in France. Since that time, National Doughnut Day has been a symbol of The Salvation Army’s support of others in times of need. In continuing with that tradition, we are planning to distribute over 2,000 Krispy Kreme™ doughnuts to local businesses and organizations that are helping to make Grand Rapids a better community.
We need volunteers to help us give away donuts from 9am to 12:30pm, and from 12:30pm to 4pm on Friday, June 7th.
If you are interested in volunteering for the event, please visit the Donut Day volunteer sign up page here, or contact Angela DeVries at 616.459.3433 ext 1184 or email Angela_Devries@usc.salvationarmy.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
